We use an air chisel with a Panel Cutter bit, set the drum on it’s side. Cut below the lip on the drum top and roll it around till the top and then the bottom come off. You don’t need much to make them flat. Now we need to drill a hole in the middle of the panel. I used a drill press to do this, but you could also use a hand drill if you have one.
Drill a 1/4″ hole through the center of each panel, about 3/8″ from the edge. This will allow us to slide the panels in and out without damaging them. You can also drill the holes on both sides of a panel at the same time, so you don’t have to worry about drilling the hole on one side and not the other. Once you’ve drilled your holes, you’ll want to sand them down to a nice smooth finish.
If you’re using a sanding block, be sure to use it on a smooth surface, not a hard surface like a table or countertop. Sanding the edges of your panels is a good idea, as it will help them to stay in place when you put them back together. Once your panel is sanded down, it should look something like this.
What tool is best to cut hard plastic?
A saw or a piece of string is the best tool for cutting hard plastic. Hard plastic is more brittle than other plastic and can be thin or thick. Plastic pegs and plastic screws are examples of hard plastic. Plastic with a Saw or String: The first step is to cut the plastic to the desired length. You can do this by hand or by using a machine.
If you use a hand saw, make sure the blade is sharpened to a sharp point. The blade should be at least 1/4 inch (1.5 cm) longer than the length of the piece to be cut. For example, if you are cutting a 1-1/2-inch (3-cm) long piece, you will need a blade that is 3 inches (7.6 cm). You will also need to sharpen the saw blade so that it will cut smoothly and evenly.
A string can also be used to help you cut plastic. Cut the string into a length that will fit over the edge of your cutting board. Make sure it is long enough to reach all the way around the board, but not so long as to interfere with the cutting process.

Can I use a circular saw to cut plastic?
To make straight cuts on thicker sheets of acrylic and polycarbonate plastic (greater than ⅛ inch thick), you’ll need to use a table saw or circular saw. You can use blades designed to cut plastic, which are often packaged as “plastic cutters” or “cutters for cutting plastic.” If you’re cutting a sheet of plastic that’s thicker than 1/8 inch, you may need a special tool to make the cut.
For example, if you cut a 1-inch-thick sheet with a 3/4-in. blade, it will take a bit more than a minute for the blade to reach the edge of the sheet. If you use the same blade on a thicker sheet, the cutting time will be much shorter, and you won’t have to wait as long.
