The engine will shake excessively if the balancer fails or gets old. The shaking will become more pronounced and dangerous to the engine at high engine speeds. The problem is caused by a problem with the resonator, which is a small metal plate that sits on top of the cylinder head. It is made up of a series of small holes, each of which has a hole in it. These holes are called resonators.
When a harmonic vibration passes through one of these holes it causes a change in the frequency of vibration. This change is called a resonant frequency. Does harmonic balancer affect timing?
If you were using motronic 1.1+, moving the balancer wouldn’t have any effect on timing. If you’re using Motronic 2.0+ or later, you don’t need to worry about this. If you are using a newer version of the software, then you should be fine.
How long do harmonic balancers last?

Can you reuse a harmonic balancer bolt?
I have reused them many many times I have never had a problem. If you’re worried about it, put a little blue loctite on it. I have also used them in the past with no problems at all. mikey_dude I’ve had mine for a few years now and they are still going strong.
The only thing that has changed is that I now use a small amount of silicone oil on them to keep them from drying out. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s enough to make sure that they don’t dry out too much. They still look great and I’m sure they will last a long time.
